ENSA Protein, Human, Recombinant (His Tag)

Endosulfine alpha, also known as ENSA, belongs to the endosulfine family. It is a highly conserved cAMP-regulated phosphoprotein (ARPP) family. Endosulfine alpha is widely expressed with high levels in skeletal muscle and brain and lower levels in the pancreas. As a protein phosphatase inhibitor, ENSA specifically inhibits protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A) during mitosis. When phosphorylated at Ser-67 during mitosis, specifically interacts with PPP2R2D (PR55-delta) and inhibits its activity, leading to inactivation of PP2A, an essential condition to keep cyclin-B1-CDK1 activity high during M phase By similarity. Endosulfine alpha also acts as a stimulator of insulin secretion by interacting with sulfonylurea receptor (ABCC8), thereby preventing sulfonylurea from binding to its receptor and reducing K (ATP) channel currents.

When a recombinant protein is an enzyme, specific activity is derived from an enzymatic assay. Each enzyme is tested for potency by cleavage of a substrate. The recombinant human ENSA consists of 136 amino acids and predicts a molecular mass of 15.2 KDa. It migrates as an approximately 18 KDa band in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.

In general, recombinant proteins are provided as lyophilized powder which are shipped at ambient temperature. Bulk packages of recombinant proteins are provided as frozen liquid. They are shipped out with blue ice unless customers require otherwise. Stable for 1 year at -20°C or below from date of shipment. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and opening the cap. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C or below. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
