Osteopontin (OPN) (Human) ELISA Kit
Osteopontin (OPN) is a 44 kDa phosphorylated acidic glycoprotein that is expressed in a variety of tissues such as bone, lungs, kidney, placenta, kidneys, immune cells, and epithelial cells of the gastrointestinal tract. It exists both as a component of the extracellular matrix as well as a soluble cytokine. OPN plays an important role in a variety of physiological functions such as bone mineralization, calcification, wound healing, and inflammatory responses. Elevated levels of OPN are associated with multiple pathological conditions such as osteoporosis, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's, kidney disease, inflammatory diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, allergy, asthma, and cancers such as lung, breast, colorectal, and ovarian. Thus, OPN could serve as a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of human diseases. BioVision’s Osteopontin (OPN) (Human) ELISA kit is based on the Sandwich ELISA principle to quantitatively measure the concentration of Osteopontin in human serum, plasma, and other biological fluids. Test samples, Standards, and Biotinylated Detection antibody are added to the wells pre-coated with capture antibody and then washed with Wash Buffer. The HRP-Streptavidin is added and any unattached conjugates are washed off using Wash Buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected by the addition of TMB-substrate. Finally, the reaction is terminated with an acidic stop solution. The color developed is proportional to the concentration of Osteopontin in the sample or standard.
