ACHE-IN-38 hydrochloride (Compound 13b) inhibits the metabolic breakdown of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine (ACh) by the enzyme acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and hence alleviates memory deficits in patients with Alzheimer’s Disease by potentiating cholinergic transmission[1].
