Background
Palivizumab is a monoclonal antibody to the RSV F protein that inhibits binding of the virus to cellular receptors. When administered preseasonally to high-risk infants, palivizumab reduces the rate and severity of RSV infections and the incidence of RSV bronchiolitis.
