The RACK1 protein is a multifunctional scaffold protein that participates in multiple cellular processes by recruiting, assembling, and regulating signaling molecules. As part of the 40S ribosomal subunit, it contributes to translation repression and initiates the ribosome quality control (RQC) pathway by promoting ubiquitination of specific 40S ribosomal subunits.
