Background

Voltage-dependent L-type calcium channel subunit beta-4 or Cav ß4 is encoded by the gene CACNB4. Cavß4 is a cytoplasmic subunit of voltage-sensitive calcium channels.These channels facilitate entry of calcium ions into excitable cells are involved in a variety of calcium dependent processes, including neurotransmitter release, muscle contraction, and gene expression. Cav ß4 is expressed predominantly in the brain (cerebellum) and kidney. Diseases associated with this gene include Episodic Ataxia, Type 5 and Epilepsy.

Produced by in vitro bioreactor culture of hybridoma line followed by Protein A affinity chromatography and buffer exchanged into 1X PBS. Purified mAbs are >90% specific antibody.

Specificity

No cross-reactivity against rat Cavβ1b, Cavβ2a, and Cavβ3 in transfected cells

Quality Control

Each new lot of antibody is quality control tested by western blot on rat whole brain lysate and confirmed to stain the expected molecular weight band.
