Gamma-aminobutyric acid receptor subunit alpha-4 or GABA AR alpha4 is encoded by the gene GABRA4. GABAA receptors are members of the Cys-loop family of ligand-gated ion channels. GABA AR alpha 4 is a subunit of the pentameric GABA receptors where GABA is the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the vertebrate brain and mediates neuronal inhibition by binding to the GABA receptor and opening an integral chloride channel. GABA AR alpha 4 has been found to be expressed in skeletal muscle tissue, adult mammalian kidney, heart and primarily in brain at the cell junction, synapse, and the postsynaptic cell membrane. Disorders involving the GABRA4 gene include autism, Status Epilepticus and restless legs syndrome.

Our Anti-GABA-A-R-Alpha4 mouse monoclonal primary antibody from NeuroMab is produced in-house from hybridoma clone N398A/34. It detects mouse and rat GABA-A-R-Alpha4, and is purified by protein a chromatography. It is great for use in IHC, ICC.

Aliquot and store at ≤ -20°C for long term storage. For short term storage, store at 2-8°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the vial prior to removing the cap.

Produced by in vitro bioreactor culture of hybridoma line followed by Protein A affinity chromatography and conjugation of purified mAb. Purified mAbs are >90% specific antibody.

Each new lot of antibody is quality control tested by western blot on rat whole brain lysate and confirmed to stain the expected molecular weight band.
