Direct Blue 1

Direct Blue 1 (Pontamine Sky Blue) is a histological counterstain that reduces autofluorescence. It also functions as a selective, competitive inhibitor of vesicular glutamate transporters (VGLUTs) and has been identified as a small molecule ligand that inhibits the binding of Aβ to PrP. This makes it a useful tool for neuroscience research in both immunohistochemistry and synaptic transmission studies.
