NBD-hydrazine serves as a fluorescent probe that reacts with aldehydes and ketones, exhibiting excitation and emission maxima at 468 and 535 nm, respectively. Additionally, it is utilized as a precursor in creating malondialdehyde-reactive fluorescent probes and as a synthetic intermediate for developing cupric and chromic ion colorimetric sensors.
