P-Nitrophenyl Sulfate potassium serves as a chromogenic substrate for arylsulfatase. Under the enzymatic cleavage by arylsulfonatase, p-nitrophenol is released, which can be quantitatively measured through colorimetric detection at 400 nm to assess arylsulfonatase activity.
