β-Xylosidase, Bacillus subtilis
β-Xylosidase, Bacillus subtilis (EC 3.2.1.37), is capable of releasing reducing sugars from birchwood xylan and also catalyzes the hydrolysis of 4-methylumbelliferyl-β-D-cellobioside and 4-methylumbelliferyl-β-D-xylopyranoside. This enzyme lacks endo-xylanase, arabinoxylanase, or β-glucanase activity. Furthermore, β-Xylosidase undergoes glycosylation modification after translation.
