Phosphoglucose isomerase, Bacillus subtilis (EC 5.3.1.9), is an essential enzyme involved in the interconversion between D-glucose-6-phosphate and D-fructose-6-phosphate. It catalyzes the second step of glycolysis and participates in glycogen synthesis. This enzyme is highly conserved across both bacteria and eukaryotes.
