4-oxo Decanoic Acid

4-oxo Decanoic acid (4-ODA) is a sex pheromone secreted by virgin female Asian hornets (V. velutina) . It is produced at a 0.78 ratio with 4-oxo octanoic acid. Whether used alone or combined with 4-oxo octanoic acid in its natural ratio, 4-ODA triggers antennal responses from male Asian hornets in bioassays.
