Tetrandrine 2'-N-β-oxide
Tetrandrine 2'-N-β-oxide (Saponin YSM4) is a bis-benzylisoquinoline alkaloid with antihyperglycemic properties. At a dose of 1 mg/kg, it can reduce hyperglycemia in Streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice to about 50% of the original level. This compound is primarily studied for its potential in treating type 2 diabetes. Tetrandrine 2'-N-β-oxide can be isolated from Stephania tetrandra.
