Methyllycaconitine (MLA) is a potent and selective α7nAChR competitive antagonist capable of crossing the blood-brain barrier. It mitigates amyloid β peptide-induced cytotoxicity in SH-SY5Y cells and prevents the effects of methamphetamine on the striatum in mice. Methyllycaconitine is employed in research on neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease.
