Cholic acid 3-sulfate
Cholic acid 3-sulfate is a sulfated metabolite of cholic acid, produced by the liver enzyme sulfotransferase-2A1. This modification reduces its toxicity compared to the parent compound, serving as a detoxification pathway for bile acids. Cholic acid 3-sulfate does not stimulate intestinal secretion.
