Cimicifugic acid A is a cytotoxic caffeic acid derivative that can be isolated from the rhizomes of Cimicifuga heracleifolia. It exhibits cytotoxic activity against cancer cells and increases the expression of PARP cleavage products, thereby demonstrating pro-apoptotic activity. Cimicifugic acid A is applicable in colon cancer research.
