Allithiamine

Allithiamine is a thiamine derivative with absorption properties comparable to those of fat-soluble vitamins. It serves as a precursor for the cofactor thiamine pyrophosphate, playing a role in carbohydrate metabolism by facilitating the entry of pyruvate into the tricarboxylic acid cycle as acetyl-CoA through the support of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex. Allithiamine can be utilized in studies on thiamine metabolism.
