PLLA (MW 40,000-50,000) is a biodegradable polyester material polymerized from L-lactic acid monomers. In vivo, it gradually degrades into lactic acid through hydrolysis, entering metabolic cycles. It is commonly used as a drug delivery vehicle in microspheres or nanoparticles for sustained release of proteins, peptides, and small molecule drugs, or for constructing bone tissue engineering scaffolds, providing temporary mechanical support while guiding new tissue regeneration.
