Guanidine thiocyanate

Guanidine thiocyanate is a potent protein denaturant commonly used to lyse cells and disrupt protein structures, thereby protecting nucleic acids from degradation. In vitro, guanidine thiocyanate is widely used for RNA and DNA extraction and purification, as well as for protein denaturation analysis. Guanidine thiocyanate is highly water-soluble and chemically stable, and can be used in a variety of buffer systems.
