Antimalarial agent 54

Antimalarial agent 54 (Compound 23) is a potent antimalarial compound that primarily targets the late-stage trophozoites of the malaria parasite. It inhibits the formation of hemozoin within the parasite, resulting in the accumulation of free hemoglobin. The IC50 values for Plasmodium falciparum strains NF54 and Dd2 are 0.14 μM and 0.19 μM, respectively. Antimalarial agent 54 is applicable in malaria research.
