Anti-MRSA agent 42

Anti-MRSA agent 42 (Compound 6d) is an agent effective against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) . It exhibits strong inhibitory effects on standard MRSA strains and 11 clinical isolates, with a minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 0.25-0.5 μg/mL. This compound demonstrates low hemolytic activity and minimal cytotoxicity to mammalian cells. It can inhibit biofilm formation, disrupts the cell wall and cytoplasmic membrane, and causes membrane depolarization, increased permeability, and loss of membrane integrity. Additionally, Anti-MRSA agent 42 induces reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, binds to DNA grooves, and interferes with nucleic acid functions. It is useful for studying MRSA infections.
