Nitromemantine
Nitromemantine (NitroSynapsin) is a nitrate ester derivative of Memantine and acts as a bifunctional NMDAR antagonist. It demonstrates significant efficacy in rodent models of cerebral infarction through a dual mechanism of open channel blockade and NO/redox modulation of receptors. Under hypoxic conditions, Nitromemantine specifically targets ischemic neurons, enhancing its activity. It inhibits NMDA-induced currents with an IC50 of 2.4 μM and is utilized in the study of ischemic stroke.
