(±) -Dehydroaltenusin
(±) -Dehydroaltenusin is an antibiotic that serves as a selective inhibitor of eukaryotic DNA polymerase α (pol α), exhibiting an IC50 of 0.68 μM. It can be isolated from the fungus Alternaria tenuis. The compound competitively inhibits the activity of DNA template primers (Ki: 0.23 μM) and non-competitively inhibits the activity of 2'-deoxyribonucleoside 5'-triphosphate substrates (Ki: 0.18 μM) . Additionally, (±) -Dehydroaltenusin can induce S-phase cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in cancer cells and is applicable in research on cancers such as human adenocarcinoma.
