The MUP is a sex related complex with a pre-albumin mobility in gel electrophoresis. Concentrations in male mice are between 50 to 150 μg/ml, in female mice 10 to 20 μg/ml. The complex is also detectable in serum, however concentrations are about 200 to 400 times lower. Variations in the composition of the complex are genetically determined.
