77PD, a substituted p-phenylenediamine, acts as an ozone scavenger by forming nitroxyl radicals. It is toxic to the aquatic bacterium V. fischeri with an EC50 of 0.41 mg/L and has been detected in river water and sediment. Additionally, 77PD has been utilized as an antiozonant in rubber tires.
