ALT-007 is an orally active small molecule inhibitor of serine palmitoyltransferase (SPT), the key enzyme in ceramide biosynthesis. It has been shown to reverse age-related muscle loss and dysfunction in murine models of sarcopenia and to improve protein homeostasis in aging studies using C. elegans and mouse models.
