Fluvastatin sodium is a fully synthetic, competitive HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (IC50 = 8 nM) . It also protects vascular smooth muscle cells from oxidative stress by activating the Nrf2 antioxidant pathway, making it a useful tool for cardiovascular and oxidative stress research in vitro and in vivo.
