MLEB-22043 is a siderophore-antibiotic conjugate that exploits bacterial iron-uptake pathways for targeted delivery, where its β-lactam component then exerts bactericidal activity. This mechanism provides a promising research tool for studying novel antibiotic approaches against multidrug-resistant Gram-negative pathogens, including K. pneumoniae, E. coli, A. baumannii, and P. aeruginosa, in both in vitro and in vivo models.
