VK-0214 is a selective TRβ agonist used in research for X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy (X-ALD) . It functions by upregulating ABCD2 expression, which promotes the metabolism and clearance of very long-chain fatty acids (VLCFAs) in cellular and animal models of the disease.
