10 (S) -HOME is an oxylipin intermediate in the biosynthesis of the antibacterial fatty acid 7,10-dihydroxy-8 (E) -octadecenoic acid from oleic acid in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It is used in research to study bacterial oxylipin metabolism, host-pathogen interactions, and the development of novel antimicrobial strategies in both in vitro and infection model studies.
