Sterculic Acid methyl ester
This methyl ester derivative of sterculic acid acts as a Δ9-desaturase inhibitor. In vitro, it exhibits toxicity to R. opacus at 0.75 mM and alters bacterial fatty acid composition at lower doses. In vivo studies in rainbow trout show it can synergistically enhance the tumor-promoting effects of aflatoxin Q1 at 50 ppm.
