NSC194598 is a potent small molecule inhibitor of p53 DNA-binding activity, exhibiting an IC50 of 180 nM in vitro. It is used in research to study radiation and chemotherapy-induced acute toxicity in normal tissues and has been shown to inhibit mutated RET gene transcription in medullary thyroid carcinoma models.
