C20 Sphingomyelin (d18:1/20:0)
C20 Sphingomyelin is a sphingolipid associated with metabolic and neurodegenerative disorders. Its levels are elevated in diabetic rat hippocampus, insulin-resistant human plasma, and a Niemann-Pick type C1 mouse liver, but reduced in prostate cancer patients. This makes it a valuable research tool for in vivo and in vitro studies of lipid metabolism, diabetes, neurodegeneration, and oncology.
