Lyoniresinol is a natural lignan from Tarenna attenuata with antioxidant properties, demonstrated by DPPH radical scavenging (IC50 82.4 μM), and exhibits anti-melanogenic activity. It is used in research on skin pigmentation and oxidative stress in vitro. The compound has a characteristically strong bitter taste, unlike its odorless enantiomer.
