Pexiganan (MSI-78 free base) is a synthetic magainin 2 analog with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity and oral bioavailability. It is a research tool for studying bacterial infections, including diabetic foot ulcers, in both in vitro and in vivo experimental models.
