Clindamycin phosphate hydrochloride is a prodrug of the antibiotic clindamycin, which is inactive in vitro but rapidly converts to its active form in vivo. It is widely used in research models for studying acne vulgaris and bacterial vaginosis, as well as other anaerobic and Gram-positive bacterial infections.
