Mannan, a polysaccharide derived from algae, fungi, and plants, functions as an immunomodulatory agent. It suppresses the pro-inflammatory M1 phenotype of hepatic macrophages, offering protective effects against liver pathologies including necrosis and steatosis, as demonstrated in relevant in vitro and in vivo research models.
