N-didesmethyl Loperamide

N-Desmethyl Loperamide is a metabolite of loperamide that inhibits guinea pig myenteric plexus contractions (IC50 = 370 nM) and acts as a chloroquine chemosensitizer against resistant P. falciparum (EC50 = 482 nM), while showing low cytotoxicity in vascular smooth muscle cells (IC50 >10,000 nM) . This compound is a useful research tool for studying opioid receptor pharmacology and antimalarial combination therapies in vitro.
