OPC-163493 is an orally bioavailable, liver-directed mitochondrial uncoupler that reduces mitochondrial membrane potential and reactive oxygen species. It exhibits antidiabetic and cardiorenal protective effects, demonstrated in vivo by lowering blood pressure and improving survival and renal function in hypertensive stroke-prone rat models.
