BVDU 5′-Triphosphate is a nucleoside analog antiviral research compound. Its activity is highly selective for VZV and HSV-1 due to preferential phosphorylation by viral thymidine kinase, leading to inhibition of viral DNA polymerase. This mechanism supports its application in both in vitro enzymatic assays and cell-based antiviral studies.
