N-Methylpyrrolidone
N-Methylpyrrolidone (1-Methyl-2-pyrrolidinone) is a five-membered cyclic amide. N-Methylpyrrolidone is a widely used industrial organic polar solvent in the manufacture of adhesives, paints, fuels, and pharmaceuticals. (In Vivo) :N-methylpyrrolidone produces skin irritation in humans and is teratogenic in rats. The molecular mechanisms underlying the biodegradation of N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) are unknown.
