Piroxantrone

Piroxantrone (CI942) is an anthrapyrazole antibiotic and antineoplastic agent that functions by intercalating DNA and inhibiting topoisomerase II, thereby disrupting nucleic acid synthesis. It demonstrates reduced cardiotoxicity compared to doxorubicin and has been investigated in vitro and in vivo for its activity against select cancer models, though its clinical spectrum remains narrow.
