SNJ-1945 is a calpain inhibitor with favorable pharmacokinetics, including good oral bioavailability and retinal penetration. It demonstrates neuroprotective effects in models of lissencephaly and Parkinson's disease, reduces retinal cell death in vitro and in vivo, and exhibits cardioprotective activity against ischemia-reperfusion injury.
