HMR1031 is a potent and specific antagonist of the integrin α4β1 (VLA-4), blocking its interaction with ligands VCAM-1 and fibronectin. This small molecule is used in research to investigate inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, with applications in both in vitro adhesion assays and in vivo models of conditions like multiple sclerosis and asthma.
