Cholesterol oxidase
Cholesterol oxidase (ChOx) is a flavoenzyme that converts cholesterol to cholest-4-en-3-one. As a Mycobacterium tuberculosis virulence factor, it competitively inhibits TLR2 and amplifies macrophage ROS production. This enzyme is utilized in research fields like microbiology and immunology for in vitro studies of host-pathogen interactions and oxidative stress mechanisms.
