Barixibat is a selective inhibitor of the apical sodium-dependent bile acid transporter (ASBT) . It is utilized in research to investigate bile acid metabolism, particularly in models of cholestatic liver diseases and gastrointestinal disorders, through both in vitro and in vivo experimental approaches.
