Ixazomib citrate (MLN9708) is an orally bioavailable prodrug that hydrolyzes to the active proteasome inhibitor ixazomib (MLN2238) . This second-generation inhibitor demonstrates preclinical and clinical antimyeloma activity, with improved pharmacokinetic and antitumor profiles compared to bortezomib in both in vitro and in vivo studies.
