Anatabine dicitrate is a blood-brain barrier permeable tobacco alkaloid and a potent α4β2 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor agonist. It has been studied in vitro and in vivo for its role in inhibiting NF-κB signaling, reducing amyloid-β production by suppressing β-secretase cleavage of APP, and its potential relevance to neuroinflammation and Alzheimer's disease research.
