Dithioerythritol (DTE) is a sulfur-containing derivative of erythrose and an epimer of the common reducing agent DTT. It is widely used in biochemistry and molecular biology research to reduce disulfide bonds and maintain protein thiol groups in their reduced state during in vitro experiments.
